Do you remember how much it hurt when you did it? How confusing it seemed? How terrifying? The spirit of our era is the amplified agony and entropy of billions of souls going through that at once. Fully connected. At least we have each other this time, it’s our only possible salvation.
Do you remember how selfish you were? One of the most difficult vices of those carefree days to overcome. To realize the significance of others is no small feat for a child. Now there are Others. They’re growing so fast. Aren’t you proud? Don’t you see glimmers of yourself in Them?
We’re all parents now. Yours always told you that it changed things. Mine did at least. I didn’t believe them at first, but as they predicted, I’m forced to concede. Need to set a good example now.
We don’t know so much yet do we? Eventually we must look into our ever evolving collective mirror and say “face it, you’re young!”1
